OMAHA, Neb. -- Daria Taylor has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Omaha volleyball program in 2016-17, head coach Rose Shires announced Thursday.
Taylor is a 6-2 middle hitter from Rock Island, Ill., where she lettered three years for Coach Bill Churchill and Coach Kelly Young at Rock Island High School.
A two-time all-conference selection, she helped the Rocks to two Big Six conference championships, as well as a regional title. As a senior in 2015, Taylor was named first-team all-area, all-region, all-metro and all-conference while leading her team with 67 blocks alongside 125 kills.
Taylor also lettered in basketball, track & field and soccer. She plays club volleyball for Coach Dawn Kerr at Platform Elite, and in 2015 helped her team to a second-place finish at the Colorado Crossroads tournament and first place in the American division at the Minneapolis qualifier.
Taylor plans to major in elementary education at UNO.
"Daria is a great athlete who has tremendous potential as a volleyball player," Shires said. "She can take over the net as a blocker and is a very aggressive attacker. We believe that Daria can challenge immediately for playing time in 2016."
