COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Omaha hockey team will appear in three national broadcasts by the American Sports Network during the upcoming season.
The National Collegiate Hockey Association released the full 10-game ASN schedule for the 2016-17 season on Thursday. It is the second year that ASN has covered the NCHC.
The first game on the ASN schedule will be from Omaha when the Mavericks host Vermont at Baxter Arena on Friday, Oct. 21 at 7:07 p.m. UNO's other home game on ASN is Saturday, Jan. 7 when it hosts defending national champion North Dakota at 7:07 p.m.
The Mavericks also will have one road game on ASN: Friday, Jan. 13 at Colorado College at 8 p.m. CT.
The UNO games on ASN bring to five the total of nationally televised games for the Mavericks. It was announced on Tuesday that CBS Sports Network will televise their game at Denver on Friday, Jan. 27 and against Denver at Baxter Arena on Friday, March 3.
“The announcement of 10 additional NCHC distributed games through American Sports Network speaks to our commitment toward national exposure,” NCHC Commissioner Josh Fenton said. “We appreciate ASN's partnership with our conference and their overall coverage given to college hockey. We look forward to another great year on their network.”
“We are very pleased to increase the number of NCHC games on ASN this season,” said Doron Gorshein, COO of Sinclair Network Groups. “The NCHC schedule on ASN serves our Sinclair stations in the Midwest and Mountain regions and gives them some of the best collegiate hockey in the country.”
American Sports Network, which launched in 2014-15, is composed of 173 Sinclair Broadcast Group-owned and operated television stations nationwide with 482 channels in 81 markets, many in the NCHC footprint, which combine to reach approximately 43 million households in the United States. ASN, which produced over 350 college events last season and plans to air nearly 400 contests in 2016-17, has also developed an affiliate network of regional sports networks to increase the per-game potential distribution to more than 60 million households on average.
Fans looking to watch games on ASN can find them on Sinclair Broadcast stations in their local markets, as well as on Regional Sports Networks across the country. For more information, visit www.americansportsnet.com.
