Mavericks Ready For Media Day "Takeover"
Sep 19, 2016 | Hockey
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Senior Austin Ortega and head coach Dean Blais will take to social media as part of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference's upcoming Media Day.
Ortega will “takeover” the NCHC Twitter feed (@TheNCHC) from 10:45 – 11 a.m. CT during media day at the Target Center in Minneapolis on Thursday, Sept. 22. The hashtag is #NCHCAskAustin.
From 12:40 – 1 p.m. CT, both Ortega and Blais will answer fan questions via Facebook LIVE on the NCHC's Facebook Page (@TheNCHC). Each school (coach and student-athlete) will be on Facebook LIVE for 10-15 minutes to answer some fan questions and talk about their team.
If there are unanswered questions from the Twitter Takeover those may be answered by the student-athletes on Facebook LIVE, while fans can also ask questions for the head coaches on Facebook by adding a “comment” on the live video or tweeting the question using the hashtag. The videos will also be archived on the NCHC's Facebook page.
Throughout the day, pictures from Media Day will be posted on the NCHC's Twitter and Instagram (@TheNCHC) accounts while fans can see what's going on behind the scenes at Media Day all day long on the Media Day Live section of NCHCHockey.com. Like last year, the page will have the fan interaction schedule, photos, news updates and feature various social media elements.
Leading up to Media Day, NCHC preseason accolades will be announced. On Tuesday, Sept. 20 the NCHC Preseason All-Conference Team will be released while the following day (Sept. 21) the Preseason Poll will be revealed. The NCHC Preseason Poll will first be unveiled on Twitter with @TheNCHC counting the teams down from eight to one, allowing fans to follow along.
