Mavericks Back On the Track at South Dakota State

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Omaha track & field team picked up a host of personal bests at the Jim Emmerich/Alumni Invitational at South Dakota State on Saturday.
Sasha Quattlebaum tied for sixth in the long jump with leap of 16-09 ¼, a personal best by more than a foot from her previous jump.
Freshman Renata Valquier-Chavez ran UNO's top time in the mile this season with a personal best time of 5:15.13, leading a group of eight Mavericks in the event.
In the 3,000 meters, freshman Willa Koenig had UNO's best time, running 10:30.27 in her first appearance in the event.
In the shorter distances, Lauren Houston finished eighth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:15.82, just ahead of teammate Alyssa Thavenet who clocked a time of 2:16.06.
UNO also ran its first 4 x 400 meter relay of the season. The team of Houston, Sydnee Mitchell-Jemison, Daylee Olson and Thavenet posted a time of 4:05.44.
The Mavericks will travel north again next week for the Jack Johnson Invitational at Minnesota on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 27-28.
