Omaha Splits Saturday Doubleheader with Georgia State

ATLANTA, GA. -Ā The Omaha softball team split its doubleheader with Georgia State Saturday afternoon, winning 3-1 in the first game before falling 12-4 in six innings in game two.Ā The Mavericks are now 4-8 (0-0 Summit League), while the Panthers are 10-5.
Game 1 ā Omaha 3, Georgia State 1
Senior Lizzie Noble paced the Mavericks at the plate in the first game of the day, finishing 3-for-4 with two runs scored.Ā Junior Kelly Pattison finished 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.Ā Senior Nicole Warren went 1-for-4 with a RBI.Ā
The win went to senior right-handed pitcher Abbie Clanton (2-4), who allowed one run on six hits and two walks while striking out four in 6.0 innings of work.Ā Sophomore right-hander Laura Roecker picked up her first save of the year by pitching 1.0 inning allowing one walk with one strikeout.Ā Mandy Change (3-1) took the loss after pitching 2.0 innings allowing three runs on six hits and one walk with two strikeouts.Ā Peyton Worsham pitched the final 5.0 innings allowing just two hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
Omaha took the lead in the top of the first inning.Ā Noble led off with a single and two batters. Later, Pattison hit the first pitch she saw over the left field wall to give the Mavericks a 2-0 lead.
UNO added another run in the top of the second.Ā Noble reached on a two-out single up the middle and moved to third on freshman Emily Klosterman's single to right center.Ā Warren drove a 3-2 pitch into left field scoring Noble and giving Omaha a 3-0 lead.
The Mavericks threatened again in the fourth, putting two runners on with one out, but were unable to add to their lead.
Clanton kept Georgia State at bay until the bottom of the sixth.Ā Megan Litumbe sent a 1-0 pitch over the left field wall to cut Omaha's lead to 3-1.
Roecker entered the game in the bottom of the seventh and allowed a walk, before getting a pop out and a groundout to end the game.

Warren led the Mavericks at the plate in game two, going 2-for-2 with a run scored.Ā Pattison went 1-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI, while senior Lia Mancuso and freshman Vicky Kinney each drove in runs.Ā
Emily Soles (2-1) picked up the win in relief, pitching 3.2 innings allowing only four hits and striking out two.Ā Starter Annie Davis went 2.1 innings allowing four runs ā three earned ā on three hits and two walks with one strikeout.Ā Clanton picked up the loss in relief for the Mavericks, allowing seven runs ā two earned ā on seven hits and a walk in 2.0 innings of work.Ā Roecker started the game and pitched 3.1 innings allowing five runs ā four earned ā on seven hits and two walks with a strikeout.
Georgia State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first.Ā Remington Hasty walked and moved to third on Ivie Drake's double.Ā Both runners came in to score on Litumbe's double.
Omaha got a run back in the top of the second.Ā Kinney drew a leadoff walk and promptly stole second.Ā She came around to score as Mancuso reached second base on a throwing error.Ā GSU answered in the bottom half of the inning scoring a run on three hits.
Omaha tied the game with three runs in the top of the third.Ā Noble singled to lead off the inning and moved to second on a sacrifice.Ā Warren followed with a walk, and both runners moved up a base on a wild pitch.Ā Pattison reached on an infield hit that scored Noble.Ā Following a Panther pitching change, Pattison and Warren moved to second and third on a wild pitch.Ā Kinney lifted a sac fly to center scoring Warren.Ā Then Mancuso singled to center to bring home Pattison and tied the score at 4-4.
The Panthers regained the lead in the bottom of the inning on Litumbe's second homer of the game.Ā Georgia State added to the lead with five runs on four hits and three errors in the top of the fourth and two more runs in the fifth on two hits and an error.Ā Reagan Morgan's one-out home run to right field ended the game in the sixth inning due to the run-rule.
Omaha returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 26, playing one game at Kennesaw State.Ā First pitch is set for 10 a.m. at Bailey Park in Kennesaw, Ga.
