Weninger Named NCHC Goaltender of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The NCHC announced today that Omaha hockey sophomore Evan Weninger has been named the conference's Goaltender of the Week.
Weninger earned his third shutout of the season with a 3-0 blanking of No. 15/16 North Dakota last Saturday. He stopped 22 shots to record the fourth whitewash of his career.
With UNO leading just 1-0, Weninger turned aside all 15 shots UND sent his way in the third period including blunting two power play chances. He improved to seventh in the NCHC in goals against average (2.96) and sixth in save percentage (.907). The native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is now 10-7-4 this season.
This is Weninger's third Goaltender of the Week award this season. He earned it in back-to-back weeks following a 31-save shutout at Northern Michigan on Nov. 26 and after a career-high 47 saves in a 3-3 tie at Wisconsin on Dec. 2.
The Mavericks finish the regular season at home against No. 1 Denver on Friday and Saturday, March 3-4.
