Ortega, Snuggerud Named To All-Conference Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Two members of the Omaha hockey team have been named to the National Collegiate Hockey Conference All-Conference Team.
Senior forward Austin Ortega was named to the All-Conference First Team while junior defenseman Luc Snuggerud was named to the second team.
Ortega currently leads the NCHC in scoring for all games played with 19 goals and 26 assists for 45 points. His assist and point totals are career bests. Ortega has been named the NCHC's Offensive Player of the Week three times this season. He also was named the conference's Player of the Month in December for scoring five goals and five assists in six games. Earlier this season, he tied the NCAA record by scoring his 23rd career game-winning goal. The native of Escondido, Calif. was Honorable Mention All-Conference as a sophomore.
Snuggerud ranks second in scoring among NCHC defensemen for all games played with 11 goals and 20 assists for 31 points, all career highs. His goal total is best among NCHC defensemen. A fifth round draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks in 2014, Snuggerud is tied for second among all NCHC players with 18 power play points. He was named the NCHC's Defenseman of the Week following a two goal-two assist performance against Western Michigan on Feb. 10-11. As a freshman, the native of Eden Prairie, Minn. was named to the NCHC All-Rookie Team.
The Mavericks begin the NCHC Playoffs with a best-of-three quarterfinal series at Western Michigan on March 10-12.
