Grigorescu Falls in First Round of NCAA Singles

ATHENS, Ga. – Omaha Razvan Grigorescu was defeated in the first round of the NCAA singles championship by No. 26 Harrison Scott of Texas on Wednesday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the University of Georgia campus.
Making his NCAA singles debut, Grigorescu dropped the first set 6-4 but fought back to take the second set 6-2. He trailed 5-3 in the third set but rallied to take the next three games and a 6-5 lead. Scott held serve to force a tiebreak in which he won 7-4 to claim the match.
"I am incredibly proud of what Razvan has accomplished this year," said head coach Tyson Thomas. "Today was a tough loss, but he (Razvan) is already excited about putting in the work and taking everything a step further next year. To experience this environment as a freshman is incredible for both his individual growth and the whole team's energy heading into next season."
Grigorescu finished this season with 19 overall singles wins, including knocking off three opponents from Power Five schools.
