Weninger Garners Goaltender of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Junior Evan Weninger has been named the NCHC's Goaltender of the Week. It's the second straight week a Maverick has picked up a player of the week award.
Weninger earned up his eighth win of the year and second straight, backstopping Omaha's 4-1 win over No. 6 North Dakota in the opener of last weekend's series in Grand Forks. Weninger stopped 34 of 35 shots, allowing only a penalty shot goal in the first period. Â
Weninger was particularly sharp in the second period, stopping all 20 shots fired his way. He also helped the Mavericks turn back all three UND power plays. The native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan finished the weekend with a 1.00 GAA and a .971 save percentage. He has allowed only one goal in back-to-back games.
This is Weninger's first weekly award this season and fourth of his career.
The Mavericks are back home this week, hosting Miami on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 12-13. Both games start at 7:07 p.m. from Baxter Arena.
