Omaha Sweeps Oral Roberts To Remain Perfect In League Play

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha volleyball continued its Summit League unbeaten streak with a sweep over Oral Roberts Sunday afternoon inside Baxter Arena.

The Mavericks cruised to a three-set win (25-19, 25-21, 25-19) over the Golden Eagles and improved to 7-0 in league play.

Notes

Prior to the match, Rose Shires was honored for reaching the 500-win milestone earlier this season.
Omaha cut Oral Roberts' all-time series lead at 8-6.
The 7-0 league start ties for the best start since the 1999 season (started 7-0 in the North Central Conference).
Omaha tallied its fourth match this season of hitting .300 or better.
The Mavericks are 4-0 in those matches when hitting .300 or better (hit .309).
Omaha improves to 7-0 at home this season.

Leaders for Omaha
Sydney Case tallied her fourth double-double on the season with 44 assists and 11 digs. Isabella Sade recorded a match-high 12 kills on .556 hitting and two blocks. Abby Bergsten followed with 11 kills, while Claire Leonard had 10.

Inside Set 1
Neither team was able to pull away in the early portion of the match. Omaha had a 3-1 spurt that was sparked by kills from Anna Blaschko and Bergsten to lead 13-10. The Mavericks never relinquished the lead for the remainder of the set, and won the set 25-19 to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

Inside Set 2
A 5-0 ORU run put the Mavericks in a three-point deficit early in the match. Omaha, however, rallied with a 5-1 run and led 9-7. That preceded another 5-0 rally by the Mavericks which was sparked by kills from Case and Bergsten. Four straight Oral Roberts points tied it at 17. Despite the set being tied on two more occasions, Omaha dug deep and closed out the set with back-to-back kills from Bergsten.

Inside Set 3
Omaha's monumental 10-3 run gave it the space it needed to cruise through the set. Kenzie Michalek had a pair of service aces that gave the Mavericks a 15-6 lead. Oral Roberts cut it to as low as five points in the match, but Omaha was able to stop the run and seal its seventh straight win.
