Ward Earns Second Rookie of the Week Nod

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Freshman Taylor Ward has been named the NCHC Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.
Ward led the Omaha hockey team in scoring last weekend against Colorado College, earning a goal and three assists for four points.
On Friday, he had assists on all three Omaha goals in a 3-3 tie and shootout win over the Tigers. He finished +1 for the game.
The next night, he scored his fifth goal of the season in the Mavericks' 6-3 loss. In that game, he had a team-best five shots on goal, was +1 and had one blocked shot.
Ward currently ranks third in the NCHC in rookie scoring for all games played with five goals and eight assists for 13 points. For conference games only, he is tied for the NCHC lead with three goals and five assists for eight points. He also is tied for third in team scoring.
The native of Kelowna, British Columbia earned his first NCHC Rookie of the Week award following Omaha's series against Miami on Nov. 2-3.
The Mavericks conclude the first half of the season with a series at St. Cloud State on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7-8.
