Volleyball Announces 2018 Schedule, Ticket Plans

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha Athletic Department and head coach Rose Shires announced the finalized 2018 volleyball schedule on Tuesday.
The 2018 campaign features a non-league slate with teams from eight different conferences: the American, Big 12, Conference USA, Horizon League, OVC, Pac 12, Southland and WAC. The Mavericks will play matches in 10 different states.
Tickets go on sale Wednesday, May 16 at 10 a.m. and will be available in-person at the Baxter Arena Box Office, by phone at (402) 554-MAVS or online at OMavs.com/tix. Reserved seating packages are $70, while courtside seating is $125.
Season tickets also include all six matches in the Omaha Challenge. All-session passes for the tournament will be available at a later date.
"I am extremely pleased with our 2018 schedule," Shires said. "It brings a great blend of competition from a variety of conferences. All of our pre-league matches will definitely prepare us for a grueling and competitive Summit League schedule. I am very excited with the growth and level of our team, and we are ready for the 2018 season."
Omaha begins with a road exhibition at Missouri State (Aug. 15), then returns home for the annual Black-White Scrimmage at Baxter Arena on Aug. 17.
The 2018 slate officially opens the following week at the New Orleans Invitational, where the Mavericks play over a two-day span against host New Orleans (Aug. 24) followed by a pair of matches against Murray State and Houston the next day (Aug. 25).
On Aug. 31, Omaha plays host to UMKC and UIC for its home opener and the first day of the Omaha Challenge at 12:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively. That precedes another match the following day (Sept. 1) against UTEP at 4 p.m. to close out the weekend.
Following the home tournament, Omaha hits the road for back-to-back weekends, beginning in Manhattan, Kan., at the K-State Invitational (Sept. 7-8) against Oregon State, North Texas and host K-State. The Bradley Tournament (Sept. 14-15) follows, as the Mavericks travel to Peoria, Ill., to take on Bradley, Eastern Illinois and Milwaukee to cap the non-league slate.
Summit League play begins with a pair of road trips to South Dakota State (Sept. 21) and North Dakota State (Sept. 23). The team opens its league home schedule with a pair of matches against Western Illinois (Sept. 28) and Fort Wayne (Sept. 30). New member North Dakota visits Baxter Arena next (Oct. 5) for a showdown before the Mavericks make a quick trip up to Vermillion, S.D., to take on South Dakota (Oct. 12).
The team then plays three of its next four at home, opening with Oral Roberts (Oct. 14) and Denver (Oct. 16) before a visit to Fort Wayne (Oct. 19) and another home match against North Dakota State (Oct. 21). Omaha plays two straight on the road at North Dakota (Oct. 26) and Denver (Oct. 28) before returning home for the final regular-season home contests against South Dakota State (Nov. 2) and Senior Day against South Dakota (Nov. 4).
The final two regular-season matches are at Western Illinois (Nov. 6) and Oral Roberts (Nov. 11), before the Summit League Championships, Nov. 16-18 in Denver, Colo.
