Mavericks Head To Nebraska For Tune-Up

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha track & field will compete in the Nebraska Invitational on Saturday, May 5, its last meet before the Summit League Championship.
The meet begins with the throwing events at 10 a.m. from Ed Weir Track in Lincoln.
The Mavericks competed in two meets last week. Among the highlights, Stephanie Ahrens finished second in the high jump at the Drake Relays with a leap of 5-10 ¾. Her performance came one week after she tied the school record in the event at a meet in California.
Ahrens, the two-time Summit League champion in the high jump outdoors, again has the top mark in the league this season.
Also at Drake, Lauren Houston finished 11th in the unseeded 800 meters with a time of 2:11.73. It was her second-best time at that distance, just two seconds off her lifetime best run in California two weeks ago.
The Mavericks also competed at the Kip Janvrin Open at Simpson College. Anna Edet took second in the hammer throw with a toss of 161-07, and Megan Adams had a lifetime best of 141-01.
Also at the Janvrin, Ahrens won the 100 meter hurdles in her first running of the event this season. She posted a time of 14.53, her second-fastest career time.
Anita Jenkins had a season-best in the 800m at 2:20.31.
Following competition at Nebraska, the Mavericks will head to Tulsa, Okla. for the Summit League Championship on Thursday-Saturday, May 10-12.
