Mavericks Finish Seventh at Iowa

Final Results

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Freshman Zora Gittens led the Omaha women's golf team to a seventh-place finish at the Diane Thomason Invitational.

Gittens finished the 54-hole event with a round of 76 on Sunday, giving her a final score of 236. She finished in a tie for 18th in the field of 55 golfers. It marked the first time in her young career that she had led the Mavericks in scoring.

Jordan York was second on the team and tied for 36th overall with a total of 243, a score that included a final round of 80.

Mandy Boyle finished in a tie for 42nd after closing with a card of 82 that gave her a three-round total of 247. Hannah Hunke and Sami Langford were right behind. Each golfer posted a total score of 249 to tie for 47th. Hunke shot 84 in the final round while Langford posted an 86.

Samantha Chong, playing as an individual, finished with a score of 82 for a total of 242. She finished 35th.

The Mavericks posted a team score of 322 in the final round to finish with a total of 970.

The Mavericks continue their stretch of four straight days of golf to finish the fall season when they take part in the Creighton Classic on Monday, Oct. 1 at 11 a.m. at Oak Hills Country Club.
