MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Senior Ryan Galt is one of 17 college hockey players nationally to be nominated for the Hockey Humanitarian Award.
The award is presented annually to college hockey's finest citizen, a student-athlete who not only contributes significantly to his or her team but also to the community at-large through leadership in volunteerism.
The list of nominees includes 13 male student-athletes and four female student-athletes from both Division I and Division III. Galt is the only NCHC player nominated for the award.
Galt, a native of Omaha, could become the second Maverick to be recognized for his outstanding community service. Jason Cupp was named the Hockey Humanitarian Award winner in 2001.
Finalists for the award will be announced in February. The 2019 recipient will be honored in a ceremony on Friday, April 12 as part of the NCAA Men's Frozen Four weekend in Buffalo, N.Y.
