Mavericks Post Impressive Results at South Dakota State

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Omaha track & field senior Stephanie Ahrens won the high jump at South Dakota State's Jim Emmerich Invitational Saturday afternoon.
The Lincoln, Neb., native highlighted the Mavericks' impressive day with a height of 5'10" (1.78m) and beat the second-place height by four inches. Teammate Sidney Radziunas had a new season best at 5'2.25" (1.58m) to finish eighth.
Emily Johnson climbed to fifth all-time in program history with a 10:13.27 in the 3000 meter run. She tallied a fifth-place result in the event.
In the weight throw, Anna Edet finished sixth with a distance of 57'.25" (17.38m). Teammate Brekk Flax posted a lifetime best of 7.92 seconds in the 60-meter dash for a third-place finish. Lastly, Sophia Kirwan also had a personal best in the 200-meter dash, finishing eighth with a time of 26.54 seconds. Â
"I was really pleased with how we performed today," said head coach Chris Richardson. "We always want to get better from week to week and we had a lot of individuals do just that today. Coach Cliff Cisar and Coach Jill Sutton are doing great things with their athletes, and it's showing."
The Mavericks return to action next week for a two-day meet at the Jayhawk Classic. The meet is set for Friday, Jan. 25 – Saturday, Jan. 26, with noon start times in Lawrence, Kan.
