Track & Field Competes at Jayhawk Classic

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha indoor track and field program heads to Lawrence, Kan., for a meet at the Jayhawk Classic, hosted by the University of Kansas.
Competition is set to take place Saturday, Jan. 26, with a noon start time.
The Mavericks are coming off several impressive performances from the previous weekend at the Jim Emmerich Invitational in Brookings, S.D. Stephanie Ahrens won the high jump at 5'10" (1.78m) and beat the second-place height by four inches. Teammate Sidney Radziunas had a new season best at 5'2.25" (1.58m) to finish eighth.
Emily Johnson climbed to fifth all-time in program history with a 10:13.27 in the 3000 meter run. She tallied a fifth-place result in the event.
In the weight throw, Anna Edet finished sixth with a distance of 57'.25" (17.38m). Teammate Brekk Flax posted a lifetime best of 7.92 seconds in the 60-meter dash for a third-place finish. Lastly, Sophia Kirwan also had a personal best in the 200-meter dash, finishing eighth with a time of 26.54 seconds.
Following the Jayhawk Classic, the Mavericks return to Lincoln for the second time this season at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational. That meet is slated to take place Friday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m. The following day, Omaha heads to Vermillion, S.D., for the Dakota Realty Alumni Meet, hosted by South Dakota with a noon start time.
