Omaha Falls At Kansas, 63-48

LAWRENCE, Kan. ā Omaha women's basketball fought until the end, but fell 63-48 on the road to the Kansas Jayhawks Wednesday evening inside Allen Fieldhouse.
The Mavericks (1-3) made just two less field goals than Kansas (3-0) on 23 less attempts. Omaha shot 21-of-48 (43.8%) while the Jayhawks were 23-of-71 (32.4%). Omaha shot 3-for-7 from the line compared to Kansas' staggering, 15-of-25.
NOTES
Omaha jumped out to a 10-4 lead early on when Murdie capped off the run with a layup at the 7:08 mark. After the first media timeout with 4:22 to go in the quarter, Omaha led 12-6. The Mavericks eventually scored a late basket, but Kansas hit a three and went up 17-14 after the end of the first. Kansas won the second-quarter battle 16-12. Omaha cut the deficit to two points (23-21) after Mikaela Ekdahl nailed a center three, but KU responded with a late run and led by seven at the half, 33-26.
INSIDE THE SECOND HALF
Omaha trailed by 10, 38-28, with five minutes to go in the third. After Rayanna Carter's and-one pulled the team to within single digits, Omaha was able to cut the deficit to six. After three quarters of play, Omaha trailed just 41-36. Back-to-back layups by Ella Ogier gave Omaha the spark it needed and pulled the team to within one (41-40) and forced a KU timeout with 8:20 to go. Claire Killian's corner three on the ensuing possession eventually tied things up at 43-all.
Kansas, however, answered with a 6-0 run and put the lead back at double digits with 4:30 to go. The Jayhawks were able to maintain the cushion and defeat Omaha by 15 points for their third win of the season.
