Volleyball Stuns Mastodons In Road Win, 3-1

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Omaha volleyball program secured a crucial road victory after the team defeated Purdue Fort Wayne in four sets.Â
The Mavericks (15-12, 8-5) avenged their previous loss to the Mastodons (15-12, 9-4) from earlier this season. The team dropped the first set but bounced back and took the next three for the 3-1 win (22-25, 31-29, 25-21).Â
NOTESÂ
•   Sadie Limback (19 kills, 10 digs) and Sami Clarkson (56 assists, 12 digs) both recorded their seventh double-double.Â
•   Limback extends her double-digit kill streak to 12 matches in a row. She was also four blocks shy of a triple-double.Â
•   Isabella Sade (16) and Anna Blaschko (14) followed with double-digit kills.Â
•   Blaschko's five blocks puts her ovder the 300-mark for her career.Â
•   Omaha splits the season series against Purdue Fort Wayne.Â
INSIDE SET ONEÂ
Omaha and Purdue Fort Wayne traded points throughout the first half of the opening set. The Mavericks were forced to call a timeout as they trailed 17-14. Despite a late run and cutting it to two (24-22) in the frame, the Mastodons secured the opening-set win, 25-22.Â
INSIDE SET TWOÂ
Omaha played in its longest set of the season with a 31-29 win over the Mastodons. Purdue Fort Wayne had set point on five different occasions, but the Mavericks fought back and evened it up every time. Omaha had match point at 29-28, but eventually closed it out two points later on an ace by Limback.Â
INSIDE SET THREEÂ
A quick run mid-way through the set gave the Mavericks a 15-11 lead. The Mastodons eventually clawed back and went up 23-22 over Omaha, but the lead did not hold. Omaha secured the final three points on two kills by Sade and a kill from Limback.Â
INSIDE SET FOURÂ
Purdue Fort Wayne came out to a hot start and led 8-3. Omaha was able to respond and rattle off a 7-2 run that cut it to one. Omaha eventually forced a Purdue Fort Wayne timeout as the team led 15-13. Up by as many as five (19-14) late in the match, the Mastodons rallied back and cut it to three (20-17) before Omaha used a timeout. Out of the break, Omaha held the gap and capped off the win with a 25-21 win for the four-set victory.Â
