OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's basketball team lost an 82-38 decision to South Dakota State on Wednesday at Baxter Arena.

Leaders for Omaha
Freshman Mariah Murdie finished with her first career double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Emily Petersen added 10 points, while sophomore Claire Killian scored seven points.

Leaders for South Dakota State
Tagyn Larson scored a game-high 27 points on 11-of-11 shooting from the field, including five 3-pointers. Larson also had nine rebounds and four blocked shots. Myah Selland scored 11 points and had five assists. Madison Guebert chipped in 10 points, four steals and three assists.

Team Stats
Omaha shot 27.3 percent (15-of-55) from the field and 20.0 percent (5-of-25) from behind the 3-point arc. The Mavericks hit 42.9 percent (3-for-7) of their free throws.

South Dakota State hit 50.0 percent (31-of-62) from the field and 45.5 percent (10-for-22) from long range. The Jackrabbits were 71.4 percent (10-for-14) at the charity stripe. SDSU outrebounded UNO 42-30 and forced 17 turnovers while committing only eight.

Inside the First Half
South Dakota State shot 46.7 percent (14-of-30) with six 3-pointers in the first half with Larson leading the way with 13 points, six rebounds and two blocks at the break. Petersen led the Mavericks at the break with six points, while Murdie and junior Rayanna Carter each chipping in five points. The Jackrabbit outscored the Mavericks 22-7 in the second quarter and took a 39-18 lead into the locker room.

Inside the Second Half
A 20-5 run to open the second half extended the South Dakota State lead to 59-23 with 4:27 remaining in the third quarter. Omaha was unable to get closer than 34 points in the fourth quarter as SDSU took the 82-38 victory. South Dakota State improved its shooting to 53.1 percent (17-for-32) in the second half while limiting UNO to 29.6 percent (8-for-27).

Omaha is now 7-18 overall and 1-11 in Summit League play, while South Dakota State improved to 19-6 (11-1).
