FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Omaha softball team split on its final day at the Wooo Pig Classic, defeating Northwestern State 4-1 before falling 8-0 to Nevada.

Omaha 4, Northwestern State 1
Freshman Jamie White went 4-for-4 at the plate with a home run and two RBI to lead the Mavericks. Fellow freshman Janae Cameron added a 2-for-3 effort with a homer and two RBI, while senior Savannah Fisher went 2-for-3.

Sophomore Sydney Hampton (1-6) pitched a complete game with five strikeouts and three walks to pick up her first win of the season.

Omaha struck first when White blasted a 3-1 pitch over the left-center fence to put the Mavericks in front 1-0.

Omaha added to its lead in the top of the third. Sydney Schelkopf singled and moved to third on Fisher's two-out single. White then hit an RBI single to left to bring home Schelkopf. After a walk to junior Emma Dargy, Cameron singled up the middle to score pinch-runner Courtney Young for a 3-0 advantage.

Cameron led off the sixth inning with a solo homer to left, pushing the Mavericks lead to 4-0. Northwestern State added a run in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead to 4-1.

The Lady Demons put two runners on base in the bottom of the seventh, but Hampton induced a pop out and a foul out to end the game.

Nevada 8, Omaha 0
Emily Klosterman, Dargy and White each had hits for the Mavericks.

Ryanne Millington (1-5) allowed five runs (four earned) on two walks and five hits in 2.1 innings. Hampton allowed three runs on six hits with two strikeouts in 4.2 innings of relief.

Nevada (8-6) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, as three hits plated a pair of runs to give the Wolfpack the early advantage. A Maverick error in the second led to the Packs third run of the game. Omaha looked to respond in the next half inning as the Mavericks put runners on second and third, but a strikeout ended the best threat of the day.

The Wolfpack added two runs in the third inning on a pair of hits, a walk and a wild pitch. Nevada went on to score a single run in the fifth and two more in the top of the seventh to secure the win.

With the split, Omaha moves to 2-13 overall.
