Ahrens Caps Off Career With All-America Honor at NCAA Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Omaha track and field senior Stephanie Ahrens earned her second-career All-America status in the high jump at the NCAA Championships.
With a height of 5'11.25" (1.81 meters), Ahrens caps off her career with a fifth-place overall finish.
"We are so unbelievably happy for Stephanie," said head coach Chris Richardson. "She has been able to compete with all the athletes from the bigger schools, but without their resources. It just goes to show what hard work, dedication and a great coach like Jill Sutton can do for you. She will be truly missed as a student-athlete here at UNO."
Ahrens now concludes her career with five Summit League High Jump titles, the event record holder for both the indoor and outdoor seasons and a two-time All-America honoree.
This season alone, Ahrens recently set the indoor record back on Feb. 9 at the Northwest Missouri State Invite with a height of 6'00.5" (1.84). Her mark today is the second-highest behind her record-breaking performance exactly a month ago. She also had five top finishes for the high jump this season and eight top-5 results.
"It means so much for me to finish my collegiate career this way," said Ahrens. "I cannot thank my coaches and this program enough for the opportunities they've helped me earn during my time at UNO."
