WICHITA, Kan. – The Omaha track & field team finished four days of competition at the KT Woodman Classic at Wichita State on Saturday.

Jaycee Schettler highlighted the weekend with a sixth-place finish in the heptathlon with a score of 4,115, a remarkable 759 points higher than her previous personal best.

Schettler, competing on Wednesday and Thursday, put up lifetime bests in the first six events of the heptathlon. That set her up for one more PR, a time of 2:44.95 in the 800 meters that was more than 11 seconds faster than her previous best.

"I was really happy for Jaycee," said head coach Chris Richardson. "I know she's been working very hard, and it was great to see all that come together in a strong performance.

"While we did have some other stand out performances there were a lot of other areas where I felt we lost focus," Richardson added. "When things don't go our way, we needed to figure out what went wrong so that we don't repeat it in the future."

In other action on the track, Annie Catania took seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 2:28.58. Lauren Houston was fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 59.61.

Anita Jenkins was UNO's top finisher among six runners in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:53.56.

In the field, Anna Edet took third in the hammer throw with a mark of 157-04 (47.96).

The Mavericks return to competition next week at two meets in California. They'll take part in the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate at Long Beach State on Thursday, April 18. On April 18-19, they'll also compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific.
