INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Omaha track and field team posted a number of lifetime best times on the second day of competition at the Kip Janvrin Open at Simpson College.

Freshman Heidi Hall led the way in the 5,000 meters, running a time of 17:40.90 and finishing second. It was 31 seconds faster than her previous best and the fourth-fastest 5,000 meter time in school history.

Also in the 5,000, Annie Catania (18:53.50), Ivanna Uribe (19:08.78) and Emily Robles (19:31.62) all ran lifetime bests.

The avalanche of PR's continued in the sprints. Erinoelle Clifton posted a lifetime best of 25.83 in the 200 meters, the Mavericks' fastest time in the event this season. Brekk Flax was right behind with a time of 25.87, also a personal best. Sophia Kirwan (26.18) and Ana Bellinghausen (26.59) joined the parade of top times in the event.

Flax tied her lifetime best in the 100 meters, posting a time of 12.44 which was good for fourth. Bellinghausen also had a PR with a time of 12.88.

"This was a great day for us," said head coach Chris Richardson. "I almost lost count of the number of lifetime bests that we had. It's amazing the things one can accomplished when they believe that they're capable of doing it. Today, our girls believed in themselves. "

In the relays, the Mavericks also posted season-best times. The team of Clifton, Scarlett Hill, Kirwan and Flax won the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 48.55.

In the 4x400 relay, the Mavericks' quartet of Hill, Kirwan, Daylee Olson and Clifton clocked a time of 4:03.12.

On Thursday, Anna Edet took second in the hammer throw with a mark of 157-00.

Also in the field, Cassady Sunderman just missed a lifetime best in the high jump. Still, her mark of 5-03 was good for fifth. Sidney Radziunas was seventh with a height of 5-01.

At the Drake Relays on Thursday, Emily Johnson narrowly missed resetting her own school record in the 5,000 meters, running a time of 16:59.80 to finish third. She was a little less than three seconds from breaking the record she set just last week in California.

On Saturday at Drake, Lauren Houston finished eighth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:14.69.

The Mavericks' weekend concludes tomorrow when Lauren Houston runs in the 800 meters at Drake. The race is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. A live video link is available on the schedule page.
