FARGO, N.D. – An identical score of yesterday fell in favor of the Bison, as the Omaha baseball team dropped a 3-2 result in the second game of the series Saturday afternoon.

Omaha (26-15-1, 18-5) had its chances with two runners on base and just one out in the ninth, but the Bison (14-21, 12-11) were able to turn a double play and close out the game with the win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Matt Bondarchuk went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run. Thomas DeBonville registered a triple for his only hit of the game. Grant Suponchick was the final Maverick to record a hit on a double. On the mound, starter Andrew Brighton pitched 4.0 innings with a strikeout and two runs allowed, while Jacob Mohler pitched five strikeouts with one run and four hits allowed through 3.2 innings in relief, as he fell to 1-3 on the season. Mark Ehresman pitched in the final inning for the Mavericks.

NDSU's Max Loven pitched a complete game with six strikeouts, two walks, four hits and two runs allowed, as he improved to 3-2 on the season with the win.

INSIDE THE INNINGS
Neither team saw the scoreboard until the fourth inning. Omaha immediately jumped out to a 2-0 lead after DeBonville led off with a triple. He was later scored on a Keil Krumwiede sacrifice fly. After Bondarchuk singled, Suponchick brought him home on a double and gave Omaha a 2-0 lead.

The score did not last, however, as the Bison answered with a pair of single-RBI in the same inning. The final NDSU run happened two innings later in the bottom of the sixth. With two outs, the Bison doubled down the left field line for the go-ahead run.

Omaha found itself in a jam later on in the seventh as the Bison loaded the bases with just one out, but a pair of strikeouts by Mohler kept the deficit to one. In the final inning, Bondarchuk and Parker Smejkal both got on base with just one out, but a 6-4-3 double play by NDSU abruptly ended the game and evened weekend series.
