Five Mavericks Named All American Scholars

GLOUCESTER, Mass. – Five members of the Omaha hockey team have been named 2018-19 Krampade All American Scholars by the American Hockey Coaches Association.
Lukas Buchta, Zach Jordan, Travis Kothenbeutel, Fredrik Olofsson and John Schuldt were among the 33 NCHC players named. In all, 292 Division I men's players earned the honor.
To be named an All American Scholar, student-athletes must have attained a 3.60 grade-point average in each semester of the academic year and played in at least 40 percent of their team's games.
"We are extremely proud of this group of student-athletes who have competed at the highest levels of the game on the ice and matched that performance in the classroom," said AHCA executive director Joe Bertagna. "The sport demands a great deal from these athletes so it is a great statement they make, individually and collectively, with their ability to attain this level of academic achievement."
Buchta and Olofsson each earned their third nod from the AHCA while Jordan picked up his second, and Kothenbeutel and Schuldt, who were freshmen last season, picked up their first.
Earlier this year, the Mavericks had 24 of their 27 players named to the NCHC Academic Honor Roll, and 15 were named NCHC Distinguished Scholars, leading the conference in both categories.
