Softball Names Butler Assistant Coach
Aug 16, 2019 | Softball
OMAHA, Neb. ā Omaha head softball coach Amanda Eberhart announced the addition of Nicole Butler as an assistant coach on Friday.
Ā
Butler joins the Mavericks after serving the previous four seasons as an assistant coach at Midland.
Ā
"We are very excited to welcome Nicole to our staff," said Eberhart. "Nicole brings a wealth of experience at the collegiate and club level. She represents and embraces our Omaha Softball vision and I can't wait to get to work with her."
Ā
Butler was responsible for facilitating practice plans with a specialization in outfield and hitting instruction while helping the Warriors to a combined overall record of 67-29 and 34-8 mark in the Great Plains Athletic Conference the past two seasons.
Ā
"I am very excited for the opportunity to join the Omaha Softball family," said Butler. "Coach Riv and Tatum [Edwards] are great advocates for our sport and I can't wait to learn and work with them. I love the culture and history that Maverick softball provides and I look forward to jumping in and start working with them."
Ā
Along with her experience at Midland, Butler has coached in the Nebraska Gold softball program for the last six years.
Ā
Prior to coaching, Butler was a standout on the softball diamond at Midland as a four-year starter in right field and two-time All-GPAC Second Team selection. She tallied a .286 batting average with 26 doubles, six home runs and 96 RBI in her career. After missing the postseason in 2014 with an injury, she returned for her senior campaign in 2015 and posted season-highs in runs scored (26), home runs (4), RBI (35) and slugging percentage (.415)
Ā
The two-time Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and a Master of Business Administration in Entrepreneurial Leadership in 2017.
