Mavericks Start Fall Tournament Play at SIUE

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's golf team begins its fall season at the Derek Dolenc Intercollegiate hosted by Southern Illinois Edwardsville on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 23-24.
The tournament will feature 36 holes on Monday and 18 more on Tuesday at the Gateway National Golf Links in Madison, Ill. Play begins each day at 8:15 a.m.
The Mavericks begin the 2018-19 season following a sixth-place finish at the Summit League Championship in April. They return two of their five players who played in that tournament including Nick Kagy and Witchayapat Sinsrang who finished 1-2 on the team.
Sinsrang was Omaha's leading scorer last season, posting a stroke average of 73.3 while playing in all 31 rounds. Kagy was second on the team with a stroke average of 75.3, also playing every round.
The Mavericks welcome three true freshmen to their ranks this year including Nebraska natives Josh Bartels (Lincoln/Lincoln Southwest) and Josh Peters (Omaha/Millard North); and Phoomintr Kaewvichien, a native of Thailand.
The tournament at SIUE is the first of five straight weeks of play for the Mavericks. They'll next play in the Zach Johnson Invitational at Drake on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 30-Oct. 1 in Des Moines, Iowa.
