OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha track & field team returns to action at the Jack Johnson Classic hosted by Minnesota on Saturday, Feb. 1.
Competition begins at 10:30 a.m. at the University Fieldhouse in Minneapolis, Minn.
The Mavericks continued to add to their list of lifetime bests last weekend at the Jim Emmerich/Alumni Invitational at South Dakota State.
On the track, sophomore Heidi Hall ran a lifetime best in the 3,000 meters, coming in 10th in a time of 10:24.03. It was more than nine seconds faster than her previous best.
In the same race, Ivanna Uribe ran a time of 11:03.39, and Maya Nachtigal, running the race for the first time in her college career, posted a time of 11:07.29.
In the 600 meters, Jaycee Schettler, fresh off setting a lifetime best in the pentathlon last weekend, set a lifetime best with a time of 1:43.54, good for seventh.
Schettler led a host of Mavericks in the race. Scarlett Hill, running the race for the first time, posted a time of 1:44.07 to finish eighth. Paige Blackford, also debuting in the race, was ninth in a time of 1:44.90.
In the short sprints, both Brekk Flax and Carrie Simonson qualified for the finals in the 60 meters after running preliminary times of 7.91 and 8.05 respectively. In the finals, Flax finished third in a time of 7.90, and Simonson was fifth with a lifetime best of 8.01.
Simonson also had a lifetime best in the 200 meters, finishing sixth in a time of 26.47.
Simonson also took eighth in the long jump with a mark of 16-09 ¼.
Following competition at Minnesota, the Mavericks will head to South Dakota for the Dakota Realty Alumni Meet on Saturday, Feb. 8.
