Mavericks Tied For Fourth at Home Tournament

Round One Results

ELKHORN, Neb. – The Omaha men's golf team is tied for fourth place after the first round of its own Maverick Invitational at The Creek after play on Monday.

The 54-hole tournament featured 27 holes on day one, leaving play suspended following the first nine holes of round one. The Mavericks were divided into A and B teams for the event. The "A" team shot a total score of 303 in the first round. It trails Bellevue which leads with a score of 288. North Dakota State is second at 297, and Morningside is third at 300.

The "B" team is tied for sixth after a shooting a score of 322.

Freshman Jacob Zerby had UNO's low round to open, posting 75 to put him in a tie for 10th. He shot 41 to open the second round, putting him in a tie for 23rd at the half-way point.

A trio of Mavericks tied for 14th overall in the first round. Mathew Halvorson, Josh Peters and Josh Bartels all shot scores of 76 to open the tournament. Bartels and Halvorson shot even-par scores of 36 to open round two, moving them into a tie for ninth in the field of 46 golfers.

Peters carded a 37 to open round two and is tied for 11th.

Transfer Noah Hartman, playing as part of UNO's "B" team, blistered the opening nine of round two, shooting a four-under score of 32. Coupled with his opening score of 77, Hartman is tied with Peters in 11th.

Phoomintr Kaewvichien, playing as part of Team B, shot 80 in the first round and was two-over 38 to open round two to sit 29th.

Freshman Carter Doose is one stroke back. He opened with a round of 79 and then shot 40 going out in round two to put him in a three-way tie for 30th.

Preston Cedergren (83/38/T-34th), Patrick Ravn (82/41/T-36th) and Jack Tickle (93/46/46th) rounded out the scoring for the Mavericks.

The second round will conclude when play resumes at The Club at Indian Creek on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. The third round will follow immediately thereafter.
