The Mavericks return 21 players from the 2019-20 team and have added eight players including two transfers and six freshmen.
Mavericks Pick Up Votes in USCHO Preseason Poll

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha hockey team received votes in the annual preseason poll released by USCHO.com.
The Mavericks earned nine points in the voting, one of 18 schools to pick up votes outside the top 20 teams ranked in the poll.
Four NCHC teams ranked in the top 20 led by North Dakota (1), Minnesota Duluth (3), Denver (5) and Western Michigan (18). St. Cloud State also received votes.
The Mavericks were ranked for four weeks during the 2019-20 season, reaching as high as 18th for two weeks.
Omaha returns 21 players from last season's team that went 14-17-5 and finished sixth in the NCHC with a record of 8-13-3-0/0. The Mavericks return seven of their top-10 scorers including their top five led by senior Kevin Conley and junior Taylor Ward who tied for the team lead with 27 points each.
Ward, who was NCHC All-Conference Honorable Mention in 2019-20, led the team with 16 goals while junior Tyler Weiss led the team with 18 assists and finished third with 22 points.
The Mavericks also return NCHC All-Rookie Team members Joey Abate and Brandon Scanlin. Abate was fifth in team scoring with 18 points and led the team with four game-winning goals. Scanlin led all UNO defensemen in scoring as a freshman with 14 points.
Omaha will begin the 2020-21 season in the NCHC pod at Baxter Arena, a three-week, 40-game season-opening event featuring all eight conference teams that begins Dec. 1. The full schedule will be released at a later date.
