Mavericks Picked Sixth in NCHC Preseason Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Omaha hockey team has been slotted in sixth place in the annual National Collegiate Hockey Conference preseason poll.
The rankings come from a survey of local, regional and national news media who cover the conference.
The Mavericks received 96 points in the voting, falling between fifth-place Western Michigan (116) and seventh-place Colorado College (45). Omaha was picked to finish in the same position last season.
The Mavericks return 21 letter winners from last season, the most of any NCHC team. That includes their top five scorers and seven of the top 10 from 2019-20.
North Dakota was picked to repeat at Penrose Cup champions, receiving all but one first-place vote and 223 points total. Denver got the other first-place vote and 185 points to come in second while Minnesota Duluth is third in the poll at 173.

The Mavericks begin play in the NCHC pod, hosted at Baxter Arena, on Dec. 1-20. An updated schedule will be released just ahead of the start of play.
On Tuesday, the NCHC will release its pre-season all-conference team.
