OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha men's basketball team will open the 2020-21 season over Thanksgiving weekend at bdG Sports' #BeachBubble at the Gulf Coast Showcase, Nov. 25-27, it was announced Wednesday.
The three-day tournament will be held at Hertz Arena in Estero, Fla. The men's field features eight teams with Omaha, Abilene Christian, Akron, Austin Peay, East Carolina, ETSU, Indiana State and Middle Tennessee.
"This is our first time playing in a tournament like the Gulf Coast Showcase," Hansen said. "In addition to featuring eight mid-major programs on a neutral floor, it's formatted like the postseason with three games in three days to prepare our team for the Summit League Tournament in March.
"We're excited to be part of this year's tournament field and look forward to seeing opponents we have yet to face in our Division I era."
The men's bracket opens on Wednesday, Nov. 25, and Omaha matches up with Austin Peay in first-round action at 4 p.m. CT.
The winner of Omaha-Austin Peay faces the winner of Indiana State-East Carolina in the semifinals at 7 p.m. CT on Thanksgiving night. The two losing teams from the opening round play that afternoon at 1 p.m. CT. Friday's championship game tips off at 7 p.m. CT.
All 12 tournament games will be streamed live and available on-demand at FloHoops.com.
There will be no general fan access, and tickets will not be available to the general public. Complete event information can be found at GulfCoastShowcase.com.
