COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Omaha freshman forward Matt Miller has been tabbed as the NCHC's first Rookie of the Week for the 2020-21 season.
Miller had a fine debut for the Mavericks, earning his first three career goals and five points in four games to start the NCHC Pod at Baxter Arena.
Miller was scoreless in the first game, a 5-3 loss to Minnesota Duluth, but he broke out in a big way in game two, scoring two goals and adding an assist in a 10-2 win over Western Michigan.
He followed that performance with another assist in a 2-1 overtime win over Miami. He scored Omaha's first goal in the final game, a 5-3 loss to St. Cloud State. The native of Leo, Ind. finished the week with a +4 rating. He is currently tied for first in NCHC scoring.
Miller and the Mavericks return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 9, when they face Colorado College at 7:35 p.m.
