COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Freshman goaltender Isaiah Saville has been named the Bauer NCHC Rookie of the Week for his efforts in the Omaha hockey team's series with Colorado College last weekend.
Saville played both games as the Mavericks beat the Tigers, 5-0, in the series opener before losing 3-2 the following night.
On Friday, Saville made 22 saves to register his first career shutout. He helped Omaha hold the Tigers scoreless on five power plays. The next night, the native of Anchorage, Alaska had a game-high 30 saves in the loss. In the game, he gave up two even-strength goals.
For the weekend, Saville posted a 1.52 goals-against average and a .945 save percentage. He now ranks sixth in the NCHC in goals against average (2.83) and fifth in save percentage (.905).
It is the third weekly award for Saville. He was named the Rookie of the Week on Jan. 20 following two ties with then-No. 4 Denver. He also picked up a Goaltender of the Week award on Oct. 21 following a split at then-No. 12 Ohio State.
Saville and the Mavericks are on the road this weekend, visiting Miami on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 28-29.
