COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Omaha hockey sophomore forward Taylor Ward has been named NCHC Honorable Mention All-Conference, the third Maverick to be recognized for his play this season.
Ward finished the regular season as part of a six-way tie for 22nd in NCHC conference scoring only with 10 goals and seven assists for 17 points in 20 games. He missed the final four conference games with an injury. His goal total put him in a tie with four others for sixth.
The native of Kelowna, British Columbia is tied with Kevin Conley for the team scoring lead with 27 points for all games played. He was named the NCHC's Forward of the Week following a three goal-two assist performance against Western Michigan on Jan. 31-Feb. 1.
On Tuesday, freshmen Joey Abate and Brandon Scanlin were named to the NCHC All-Rookie Team.
The Mavericks open the NCHC Playoffs with a best-of-three quarterfinal series at third-seeded Denver on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, if necessary, March 13-15.
