Two Mavericks Up For NCHC Year-End Awards

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Two members of the Omaha hockey team are among those under consideration for the NCHC's annual individual awards.
Senior Zach Jordan is one of three NCHC players up for the Senior Scholar Athlete Award. Jordan is carrying a 3.71 cumulative grade-point average in business administration. He is a four-time member of the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team and a three-time NCHC Distinguished Scholar. He also twice has been named an All American Scholar by the American Hockey Coaches Association.
Jordan recently completed his UNO career, having put up 12 goals and four assists for 16 points in 35 games this season. The native of Collinsville, Ill. had 38 goals and 34 assists for 72 points in 128 career games with the Mavericks.
Freshman Nolan Sullivan is up for NCHC Rookie of the Year. He appeared in 33 games this season, scoring seven goals and 10 assists for 17 points to rank eighth in team scoring and fifth among NCHC rookies for all games played. The native of Eden Prairie, Minn. was second in the NCHC and 10th among all players nationally with a face-off winning percentage of 60.1. He was named the NCHC Rookie of the Week on Nov. 4 after scoring a goal and adding two assists in a weekend series against Wisconsin.
For most of the awards, finalists were determined based on voting by the conference's eight head coaches and one media member from each school with the top three vote-getters for each award being finalists. The Senior Scholar-Athlete Award finalists were voted upon by the conference's Faculty Athletics Representatives (FARs). Athletic Directors at each NCHC institution had a vote on Herb Brooks Coach of the Year, as well, along with the coaches and media.
The award winners will be announced via the NCHC's Twitter account (@TheNCHC) beginning Monday, March 23.
