Pile Honored As First-Team Academic All-American

OMAHA, Neb. – Junior Matt Pile was named to the 2019-20 Academic All-America Men's Basketball First Team on Monday, it was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
It marks the second career inclusion on an Academic All-America team for Pile, who earned third-team honors as a sophomore in 2018-19. Pile's accolade is the Omaha men's basketball program's fourth Academic All-America award, and he is the first student-athlete in program history to be a two-time honoree.
Pile carries a 3.93 grade-point average with a major in chemistry. He is a member of the UNO Dean's List and the Summit League's Academic Honor Roll and Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence.
In his junior campaign, the Wichita, Kan., native is one of two Summit League players to average a double-double. He had 11.6 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 57.6% with a team-leading 11 double-doubles. Pile leads the league in total rebounds, defensive rebounds, offensive rebounds and blocks and is second for rebounds per game. He ranks 18th nationally for total rebounds, 22nd for field goal percentage and 31st for rebounds per game.
