
Matt Pile was named Academic All-Summit for the second straight year on Wednesday.

OMAHA, Neb. – Junior Matt Pile has been named to the 2019-20 Summit League Academic All-League Team, the league office announced Wednesday. Pile was among five student-athletes selected to this year's team, which is based on academic and athletic performances this past season.
Pile was one of three players who are repeat honorees, and this marks his second Academic All-Summit award.
Also a two-time Academic All-American, Pile carries a 3.93 grade-point average with a major in chemistry. He is a member of the UNO Dean's List and the Summit League's Academic Honor Roll and Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence.
In his junior campaign, the Wichita, Kan., native was the only Summit League player to average a double-double. He had 11.6 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 57.6% with a team-leading 11 double-doubles. Pile led the league in total rebounds, rebounds per game, defensive rebounds, offensive rebounds and blocks. He ranked 20th nationally for total rebounds, 21st for field goal percentage and 30th for rebounds per game.
To be eligible for the Academic All-League Team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of his team's competitions.
