Sam'i Roe will join the Omaha men's basketball program in 2020-21.

OMAHA, Neb. -- Head coach Derrin Hansen announced Monday the signing of Sam'i Roe to a National Letter of Intent for the 2020-21 season.
Roe, a rising junior, is a 6-1, 180-pound combo guard from Atlantic City, N.J. He joins the Mavericks after spending his sophomore season at Independence Community College under Coach Bill Morasco. He averaged 14.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists over 31 games, shooting 55.1% from the field.
Prior to Independence, Roe began his career at Palm Beach State, where he averaged 6.5 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. Roe appeared in 21 contests played for the Panthers, who consistently rank in the NJCAA national poll.
Roe had a highly decorated high school career at Hopkins Academy, where he averaged 26 points, seven rebounds and five assists per game as a senior and was the Western Mass Player of the Year. He helped his team to three conference championships while the Golden Hawks went a combined 65-7 from 2014-17.
Roe completed a postgraduate year at Isaiah Christopher Academy, where he averaged 27 points, seven rebounds and four assists per game.
"We're excited about Sam'i joining our program this fall," Hansen said. "He fills a specific need as we lost two 1,000-point scorers from our team, and he brings two years of collegiate experience with him.
"Sam'i is very good at defending and rebounding his position and fits how we play on the offensive end of the floor. He can play off the ball screen, is good in transition, finishes around the basket and will be very complimentary to our 2020-21 roster."
