Mavericks Add Transfer Ferrarini

OMAHA, Neb. -- Head coach Derrin Hansen announced Friday the addition of Wayne State College transfer Nick Ferrarini to the Omaha men's basketball program.
Ferrarini, a rising junior, is a 6-5, 190-pound guard from Omaha who joins the Mavericks after spending two seasons as a starter at Wayne State. He was the Wildcats' second-leading scorer at 14.3 points per game as a sophomore, shooting 42.1% from the field, 40.0% from long range and 82.4% at the stripe.
Ferrarini starred at Millard North High School, where he was a three-year letterwinner under Coach Tim Cannon. A third-team all-state selection as a senior, Ferrarini averaged 21.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 55% from the field and 75% at the line.
He also played for the OSA Crusaders program under Coach Bob Franzese.
"Nick has decided to come back home after two successful years at Wayne State, and he shot the ball extremely well there," Hansen said. "He will have an NCAA-mandated redshirt season and an opportunity to work on his speed and athleticism this year. We're pleased to have another local standout on our roster and look forward to Nick's addition to our program."
