Head Coach Mike Gabinet is bringing in eight players for the 2020-21 season including two transfers and six true freshmen.

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha hockey Head Coach Mike Gabinet announced the incoming class of eight student-athletes for the 2020-21 season. The group includes two players who are transferring in from other schools and six true freshmen.
"Our staff is working very hard to identify high character student-athletes with strong work ethics, an outstanding compete level and skill," said Gabinet. "Our incoming players are going to complement our returners and continue to enhance our culture and team.
"Now that they are all on campus, we're looking forward to helping them develop as hockey players and men."
The incoming class features defenseman Jonny Tychonick, who is transferring to Omaha from NCHC rival North Dakota. Tychonick will enter UNO as a junior with two years of eligibility. Forward Jack Randl joins the Mavericks from the Omaha Lancers (USHL) where he played last season after spending the 2018-19 season at Michigan of the Big Ten. He will enter UNO as a sophomore.
The true freshmen include forwards Kaden Bohlsen (Fargo/USHL), Brock Bremer (Lincoln/USHL), Jimmy Glynn (Dubuque/USHL) and Matt Miller (Lincoln/USHL); and defensemen Jake Harrison (West Kelowna/BCHL) and Nolan Krenzen (Omaha, Sioux City/USHL).
The newest Mavericks represent Minnesota (Bohlsen - Willmar; Bremer - Forest Lake, Krenzen - Duluth); Illinois (Glynn - Lemont; Randl - Carpentersville); Indiana (Miller - Leo); and Canada (Harrison - West Kelowna, British Columbia; Tychonick - Calgary, Alberta).

Kaden Bohlsen – F

Previous Team (League):Â Fargo (USHL)
Bohlsen played in 44 games with Fargo (USHL) in 2019-20, earning 13 goals and 19 assists for 32 points as well as 69 penalty minutes. In 126 career USHL games with Fargo and Des Moines, the native of Willmar, Minn. amassed 26 goals and 27 assists for 53 points and 190 penalty minutes. He was named to the 2019 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, scoring one goal.
Brock Bremer – F

Hometown:Â Forest Lake, Minn.
Previous Team (League):Â Lincoln (USHL)
Bremer was third in team scoring for Lincoln (USHL) in 2019-20, picking up 19 goals and 24 assists for 43 points as well as 83 penalty minutes. In 105 career games with Lincoln and Muskegon, he had 35 goals and 42 assists for 77 points and 158 penalty minutes. Prior to junior hockey, he played high school hockey for Hill-Murray where he helped the Pioneers to two state tournament appearances and was twice an all-conference selection.
Jimmy Glynn – F

Glynn played in 45 games for Dubuque (USHL) in 2019-20, earning seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points and 16 penalty minutes. He spent the prior to seasons in the NAHL with Philadelphia and Jamestown, totaling 15 goals and 33 assists for 48 points in 106 games. He also had 94 penalty minutes.
Matthew Miller – F

Miller comes to Omaha after spending four seasons in the USHL, the most recent with Lincoln. In 47 games with the Stars during the 2019-20 season, he had 13 goals and 17 assists for 30 points along with 16 penalty minutes. In 180 USHL games with Lincoln, Sioux City and the USNTDP Juniors, he put up 33 goals and 37 assists for 70 points to go with 32 penalty minutes. He also represented the U.S. in the 2016 Ivan Hlinka Tournament, appearing in four games.
Jack Randl – F

Randl played 50 games for Omaha (USHL) in 2019-20, earning 12 goals and 37 assists for 49 points as well as 30 penalty minutes. In 158 career USHL games, he had 41 goals and 59 assists for 100 points and 182 penalty minutes. He earned a spot on the USA Hockey Ivan Hlinka Team in 2016-17 and played in four games with one assist. In 2017-18, he was named to the 2017 CCM USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game and was later named to the U.S. Junior Select Team for the World Junior A Challenge. He also was named to the 2018 USHL/NHL Top Prospects game and was a member of the 2017-18 USHL All-Academic Team. In 2018-19, he played 22 games for Michigan (Big Ten), earning one assist.

Jake Harrison – D

Harrison was limited to just one regular season game with West Kelowna (BCHL) last season due to injury but appeared in five playoff games, scoring a goal and three assists for four points with two penalty minutes. In 166 career games with West Kelowna from 2014-20, he earned 18 goals and 65 assists for 83 points and 179 penalty minutes. He also played in 36 playoff games, earning four goals and 12 assists for 16 points to go along with 20 penalty minutes. In 2018-19, he played 49 games for Fargo (USHL), scoring two goals and eight assists for 10 points and 95 penalty minutes. Nolan Krenzen – D

Krenzen spent the 2019-20 season with both Omaha and Sioux City (USHL). In 44 games, he had five goals and 18 assists for 23 points as well as 20 penalty minutes. In 105 career USHL games, the native of Duluth, Minn. had nine goals and 25 assists for 34 points and 52 penalty minutes. He was named to the U.S. Junior Select Team for the World Junior A Challenge in 2019, helping the Americans to a Bronze medal.
Jonny Tychonick – D

Tychonick transferred to the Mavericks after two seasons with North Dakota (NCHC). He had four goals and seven assists for 11 points while earning 14 penalty minutes and a +20 rating in 24 games during the 2019-20 season. He completed his career at UND with 15 points in 52 games. From 2016-18, he played for Penticton (BCHL). In 2017-18, he appeared in 48 games, earning nine goals and 38 assists for 47 points to go with 34 penalty minutes. He was a BCHL First Team All-Star after finishing third among league defensemen in points. That same season, he played five games for Canada in the World Junior A Challenge, earning two assists. In 2016-17, he helped Penticton win the BCHL title. He was Ottawa's second round pick, 48th overall, in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
