Final Results

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – The Omaha men's golf team took fifth place at its first tournament of the fall, the Zach Johnson Invitational hosted by Drake.

The Mavericks shot a team score of 307, their lowest of the 54-hole tournament, on Tuesday to close with a total score of 934. The host Bulldogs won with a score of 912 while Missouri State finished second at 917, and Indian Hills Community College was third at 930.

Junior transfer Mathew Halvorson led the Mavericks in scoring with a three-round total of 229. He finished with a round of 72, one over par, on Tuesday to end up in 12th place.

Josh Peters was second on the team and tied for 17th overall with a final score of 233 that included a closing round of 78. His fellow sophomore, Josh Bartels, tied for 27th after posting a score of 240. He shot 79 in the final round.

Freshman Jacob Zerby was fourth on the team, shooting a score of 78 in the final round to finish at 241. That put him in a tie for 31st. Noah Hartman completed the team scoring with a total of 242 that included a final round of 85.

Freshman Carter Doose, playing as an individual, shot 83 on Tuesday to post a total score of 254.

The Mavericks are scheduled to return to action at their own Maverick Invitational at The Creek on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 12-13, at The Club at Indian Creek in Elkhorn.
