Stewart Signs First Pro Deal

WICHITA, Kan. – Former Omaha hockey captain Dean Stewart has signed a professional contract with the Wichita Thunder, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers.
It is his first professional contract.
Stewart played for the Mavericks from 2016-2020, serving as captain during his senior year. In 130 career games, he scored seven goals and 38 assists for 45 points. As a senior, the native of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba was named the team's MVP, its Outstanding Defenseman and its Biggest Heart Award winner.
Stewart was originally drafted by Arizona in the seventh round, 188th overall, of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
Stewart will reunite with former teammate Evan Weninger who is in his second season as a goalie for the Thunder.
