Omaha Inches Closer to Top 10

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha's five-game winning streak has it inching closer to the Top 10.
The Mavericks moved up to No. 11 in both the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine rankings on Monday following their weekend sweep of Alaska at Baxter Arena.
Omaha is off this week, but it continues a 10-game season-opening homestand on Oct. 29-30, when Long Island University comes to town for the first time. The Sharks are in their second year of hockey.
The Mavericks (5-1) are off to their best start since their 2015-16 team opened the season with six straight wins. This is the sixth time they've began the season at 5-1 or better in program history.
Omaha was one of six teams from the National Collegiate Hockey Conference to appear in the USCHO.com poll this week. Five, including the Mavericks, are among the top 11 teams in the ratings.
