Elkhorn, Neb.- The Omaha men's golf team is currently in 3rd place at the Stampede at the Creek after two rounds of action on Monday.

The Mavericks shot 290 as a team in the first round and 284 in the second for a day one total of 574. They sit behind Creighton in first place with a score of 554, and St. Thomas in second with 568.

Senior Mathew Halvorson leads Omaha with a score of 138 through two rounds. He sits In 3rd place on the individual leaderboard after shooting one under par in the first round for 71, and five under in the second for a career-best 67 in the round.

Josh Peters scored 143 over the first two rounds, going two under in the first and one over in the second. The junior currently sits in 9th place among all golfers.

Sophomore Carter Doose matched his first and second round scores, shooting one over par in both rounds. He sits in 17th place with a day one total of 146.

Freshman Christopher Atkinson shot 147 on the day and sits in 19th place. He bested his first round total of 76 with a 71 in the second.

Sophomore Jacob Zerby ends day one in 39th place, scoring 77 and 81 in the first two rounds for a total of 158.

The last five golfers all play individually in this tournament. Senior Noah Hartman shot 143 over the first two rounds, with 74 in the first and 69 in the second.

Freshman Kurtis Rodriguez shot one under in the first and one over in the second for a day one total of 144.

Jack Tickle shot 74 in round one and ends the day with a score of 152. Phoomintr Kaewvichien shot eight over in the first and ends day one with 158. The juniors both shot six over par in round two.

Sophomore Preston Cedergren finishes the first two rounds with a score of 164. He shot 84 in the first round and 80 in the second.

The final round of golf at Indian Creek begins at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in Elkhorn.
