Omaha Moves Up in Both Polls

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha, riding its longest winning streak in nine years, has moved up again in the national hockey polls.
The Mavericks (7-1), winners of seven straight games, advanced a spot to ninth in the USCHO.com rankings while jumping two places to seventh in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine ratings Monday.
Omaha swept Long Island 6-0 and 7-1 at Baxter Arena over the weekend to extend its winning streak. The last time the Mavericks won seven consecutive games, prior to this, was in November of 2012.
There are six teams from the National Collegiate Hockey Conference rated among the top 11 teams in the USCHO.com rankings and six among the top 13 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.
Omaha opens NCHC play this week. It will host Miami at 7:07 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Baxter Arena.
