Saville, Ward Receive NCHC Weekly Honors

Two Omaha players have been recognized by the National Collegiate Hockey Conference following their team's weekend sweep of Long Island. Senior Taylor Ward has been named the league's Forward of the Week while junior Isaiah Saville has been tabbed the NCHC's Goaltender of the Week for the third time.
Ward posted consecutive four-point nights in the series with the Sharks. He recorded his second career hat trick in Saturday's 7-1 victory, finishing the game with three goals and an assist. That was after he had two goals and two assists in Friday's 6-0 win in the series opener. Ward currently leads the nation with 10 goals and eight power-play goals. His 16 total points rank second nationally.
Saville posted his second shutout of the season in Friday's 6-0 opening win, making 23 saves against the Sharks in his only start of the weekend. The victory extended his career-best winning streak in net to six games. His six victories on the season have him in a tie for the national lead.
Omaha is currently on a seven-game winning streak, its first in nine years. The Mavericks play host to Miami in their first NCHC series at Baxter Arena Friday and Saturday. Game time is 7:07 p.m. both days.
