Women's Basketball Signs Two For 2022

Omaha, Neb.- Omaha women's basketball head coach Carrie Banks announced today the signing of two student-athletes for the 2022-23.
"I am thrilled about the caliber of players we are adding to our roster in the 2022 class," said Banks. "Brooklynn and Eviyon both come from highly competitive programs and have high ceilings and potential for growth. They are both great kids that come from great families that will be fun to watch on the court and in the community. I am looking forward to the future with them in a Maverick uniform."
Eviyon Richardson | 5-10 | Forward | Iowa City, Iowa
Richardson helped lead the Iowa City High Little Hawks to the Class 5A, Region 3 title game her junior season while averaging 16.5 points and nine rebounds per game. She scored a career high 26 points against Waterloo West her sophomore season behind six of nine shooting from behind the arc.
Banks on Richardson: "Eviyon is versatile in that she can play and guard multiple positions. She's a tough match-up because she can shoot, create off the dribble or play with her back to the basket. She has a high basketball IQ and is a great fit to what we do. I am excited to see the impact she will have on our team."
Brooklynn Smith | 6-2 | Center | Waterloo, Iowa
Smith helped Waterloo West reach the Iowa Class 5A state quarterfinal her junior season including a 20 point effort in the Class 5A regional final victory over Iowa City High School. She was named second team all MVC Conference her junior and sophomore seasons and honorable mention her freshman season.
Banks on Smith: "Brooklynn brings us a tremendous paint presence. Her combination of size, toughness, and ability to score around the rim are remarkable. I really like that she is a mobile big that runs the floor and rebounds. I am excited about the impact she will have on our program."
