Lucero Signs With Omaha Softball

OMAHA, Neb. - Head softball coach Mike Heard announced the signing of Maddie Lucero to the 2023 squad Tuesday afternoon. Lucero is a pitcher out of Las Vegas, Nevada and will join the Mavericks next fall.
"Maddie comes from a Corona Angels Tyson program known for its strong player development and playing at the very highest levels," said Heard. "Maddie has to consistently faced some of the top hitters in the country and learned how to get outs. We are excited to get her into our Omaha Softball program.Ā She will certainly be a strong addition to our pitching staff. She will also be a great fit with our team culture and in the classroom."
Lucero started her sophomore and junior seasons at Centennial High School. As a sophomore, she tied the state leader in most home runs before the season was cut short due to COVID. She also posted a 4-5-1 record in the circle.
In her junior campaign, LuceroĀ earned First Team All-State honors. She finished the season with an 11-4 record.
Lucero also played club ball with the Corona Angels Tyson squad under Marty Tyson. In 2019, she was in the top 36 pitchers in Extra InningsĀ Top-100 pitchers. She was also named in the Extra Innings Top-100 players.
"I chose Omaha because it felt like a home away from home," said Lucero. "I loved everything about the school and town."
